DETAILS

The Franklin pinafore is a versatile dress that you’ll want to wear again and again. It has a comfy and casual loose fit that can be pulled in at the waist with the tabs when you want that more tailored look. It has deep hip pockets – big enough for a phone or purse! There are also two options for tying the straps in the instructions, to give you more ways to make it yours.

You will need

Main fabric –

115cm/45” wide – 2m/2.2yds

140cm/54″ wide – 1.75m/2yds

Lining – 0.5m/0.6yds

Buttons x4 (approx 2.5cm/1” diameter) 

Optional –

If your fabric is light to medium weight, you may wish to use fusible interfacing to reinforce your waistband and your tabs. You will need no more than 0.25m/0.25yds for this.

Suggested Fabrics

Suggested fabrics – 

Medium to heavy woven fabrics such as denim, corduroy, twill, tweed or chambray. Some slightly lighter fabrics such as linen. 

Suggested linings –

Light to medium woven fabrics with some stiffness such as cotton, lawn, polycotton. If you have used lighter fabrics for the main fabric then the pinafore can also be lined with these.

Not recommended for high-stretch or knitted fabrics.
